55 WHEREAS, A life made rich through meaningful service drew to
66 a close with the passing of U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.)
77 James Edward Seigman on July 19, 2020, at the age of 84; and
88 WHEREAS, Born on March 7, 1936, Jimmy Seigman was the son of
99 William Henry Seigman and Ethel Minerva Border, and he grew up with
1010 a sister, Shirley; he attended Liberty High School in Bethlehem,
1111 Pennsylvania, and it was there that he met his future wife, Deborah,
1212 who accompanied him to the senior prom; the couple married in 1958,
1313 and they went on to share more than six decades together; they
1414 became the proud parents of seven children, Lisa, Michele, James,
1515 William, Anne, Thomas, and Mary, and later welcomed 21
1616 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren into their family; and
1717 WHEREAS, Mr. Seigman attended the U.S. Army Command and
1818 General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; his military
1919 education included his completion of signal officer basic and
2020 advanced courses and the Joint Command and Control Communications
2121 Staff and Operations Course at the Armed Forces Staff College; and
2222 WHEREAS, Traveling worldwide with his family over the course
2323 of his nearly 27 years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Lieutenant
2424 Colonel Seigman served as company and battalion commander, S-3
2525 officer, and test director for the TRADOC Combined Arms Test
2626 Activity, and he was a joint staff member for the U.S. Military
2727 Training Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; his awards
2828 included the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Service Commendation
2929 Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm;
3030 and
3131 WHEREAS, Following his military service, Lieutenant Colonel
3232 Seigman returned to the U.S. and taught math and science at Killeen
3333 High School, where he initiated the school's application for the
3434 International Baccalaureate program; he retired from teaching in
3535 2005; and
3636 WHEREAS, Although Jimmy Seigman is deeply missed, he has left
3737 behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with
3838 pride; now, therefore, be it
3939 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
4040 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Edward
4141 Seigman and extend deepest condolences to the members of his
4242 family: to his wife, Deborah Seigman; to his children, Dr. Lisa
4343 Harner, Michele Morin, James Seigman Jr., William Seigman, Anne
4444 Scott, Thomas Seigman, Esq., and Dr. Mary Alvarado; to his
4545 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and to his other relatives
4646 and friends; and, be it further
4747 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4848 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
4949 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jimmy
5050 Seigman.
