6 | 6 | | a close with the passing of U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) |

7 | 7 | | James Edward Seigman on July 19, 2020, at the age of 84; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born on March 7, 1936, Jimmy Seigman was the son of |
---|
9 | 9 | | William Henry Seigman and Ethel Minerva Border, and he grew up with |
---|
10 | 10 | | a sister, Shirley; he attended Liberty High School in Bethlehem, |
---|
11 | 11 | | Pennsylvania, and it was there that he met his future wife, Deborah, |
---|
12 | 12 | | who accompanied him to the senior prom; the couple married in 1958, |
---|
13 | 13 | | and they went on to share more than six decades together; they |
---|
14 | 14 | | became the proud parents of seven children, Lisa, Michele, James, |
---|
15 | 15 | | William, Anne, Thomas, and Mary, and later welcomed 21 |
---|
16 | 16 | | grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren into their family; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Seigman attended the U.S. Army Command and |
---|
18 | 18 | | General Staff College at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas; his military |
---|
19 | 19 | | education included his completion of signal officer basic and |
---|
20 | 20 | | advanced courses and the Joint Command and Control Communications |
---|
21 | 21 | | Staff and Operations Course at the Armed Forces Staff College; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Traveling worldwide with his family over the course |
---|
23 | 23 | | of his nearly 27 years in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, Lieutenant |
---|
24 | 24 | | Colonel Seigman served as company and battalion commander, S-3 |
---|
25 | 25 | | officer, and test director for the TRADOC Combined Arms Test |
---|
26 | 26 | | Activity, and he was a joint staff member for the U.S. Military |
---|
27 | 27 | | Training Mission to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; his awards |
---|
28 | 28 | | included the Bronze Star Medal, the Joint Service Commendation |
---|
29 | 29 | | Medal, and the Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal with Palm; |

31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Following his military service, Lieutenant Colonel |

32 | 32 | | Seigman returned to the U.S. and taught math and science at Killeen |
---|
33 | 33 | | High School, where he initiated the school's application for the |

34 | 34 | | International Baccalaureate program; he retired from teaching in |
---|
35 | 35 | | 2005; and |

36 | 36 | | WHEREAS, Although Jimmy Seigman is deeply missed, he has left |

37 | 37 | | behind a record of service that his loved ones can remember with |
---|
38 | 38 | | pride; now, therefore, be it |

39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of James Edward |
---|
41 | 41 | | Seigman and extend deepest condolences to the members of his |
---|
42 | 42 | | family: to his wife, Deborah Seigman; to his children, Dr. Lisa |

43 | 43 | | Harner, Michele Morin, James Seigman Jr., William Seigman, Anne |

44 | 44 | | Scott, Thomas Seigman, Esq., and Dr. Mary Alvarado; to his |
