| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Words cannot adequately express the sorrow felt by |

| 6 | 6 | | the family and friends of Wade Cannon of the Flower Mound Fire |

| 7 | 7 | | Department, who passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 33, |

| 8 | 8 | | after a courageous battle with cancer; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Wade Cannon served his community as a firefighter |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | paramedic and had been with the department for six years; he enjoyed |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | a strong bond of camaraderie with his colleagues and was recognized |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | as an energetic and spirited young man with a bright future ahead of |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | him; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, In 2020, Mr. Cannon received the devastating news |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | that he had stage four colon cancer; refusing to give up hope, he |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | endured multiple clinical trials and many rounds of chemotherapy, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and he urged other firefighters in the department to get screened |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | for cancer, knowing that early detection could give them a better |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | chance of survival; his encouragement led two of his colleagues to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | be screened for and diagnosed with colon cancer, allowing them to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | begin potentially lifesaving treatment sooner; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cannon enjoyed the support |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of a loving family, including his wife, Chelsea Cannon, whom he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | treasured having by his side through every challenge; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Although the passing of Wade Cannon is a tremendous |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | loss to his community, he leaves behind a record of public service |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | that will forever remain a source of pride to his loved ones; now, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Wade Cannon and extend |
