55 WHEREAS, Alma Rodriquez of Rancho Viejo has distinguished
66 herself as a member of the first cohort of Luminary Scholars at The
77 University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and
88 WHEREAS, This noteworthy scholarship program covers tuition
99 and fees for four years of undergraduate education as well as
1010 additional years of professional or graduate studies; the program
1111 was unveiled in 2021 with the goal of improving student success and
1212 increasing educational opportunities; and
1313 WHEREAS, To earn selection as a Luminary Scholar, students
1414 must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, responsibility and
1515 leadership, and community involvement while in high school, and
1616 participants also commit to working in the Rio Grande Valley
1717 following their graduation; enrolled in the Vaqueros MD program,
1818 Ms. Rodriquez is currently studying biomedical sciences at UTRGV;
1919 and
2020 WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Alma Rodriquez has
2121 displayed admirable dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of
2222 her goals, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on her
2323 outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
2424 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2525 Legislature hereby honor Alma Rodriquez for her accomplishments as
2626 a Luminary Scholar at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and
2727 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2828 further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for Ms. Rodriquez as an expression of high regard by the
3131 Texas House of Representatives.
