| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Yrene Rivas of Rio Grande City has distinguished |

| 6 | 6 | | herself as a member of the first cohort of Luminary Scholars at The |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This noteworthy scholarship program covers tuition |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and fees for four years of undergraduate education as well as |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | additional years of professional or graduate studies; the program |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | was unveiled in 2021 with the goal of improving student success and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | increasing educational opportunities; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, To earn selection as a Luminary Scholar, students |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, responsibility and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leadership, and community involvement while in high school, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | participants also commit to working in the Rio Grande Valley |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | following their graduation; enrolled in the pre-nursing program, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Ms. Rivas is currently studying integrated health sciences at |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | UTRGV; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Yrene Rivas has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | displayed admirable dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | her goals, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on her |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby honor Yrene Rivas for her accomplishments as a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Luminary Scholar at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
