55 WHEREAS, Clara Elliott of Austin has distinguished herself as
66 a member of the first cohort of Luminary Scholars at The University
77 of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and
88 WHEREAS, This noteworthy scholarship program covers tuition
99 and fees for four years of undergraduate education as well as
1010 additional years of professional or graduate studies; the program
1111 was unveiled in 2021 with the goal of improving student success and
1212 increasing educational opportunities; and
1313 WHEREAS, To earn selection as a Luminary Scholar, students
1414 must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, responsibility and
1515 leadership, and community involvement while in high school, and
1616 participants also commit to working in the Rio Grande Valley
1717 following their graduation; a fitting recipient of the scholarship,
1818 Ms. Elliott is currently studying biomedical sciences at UTRGV; and
1919 WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Clara Elliott has
2020 displayed admirable dedication and perseverance in the pursuit of
2121 her goals, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on her
2222 outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2424 Legislature hereby honor Clara Elliott for her accomplishments as a
2525 Luminary Scholar at The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley and
2626 extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it
2727 further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Ms. Elliott as an expression of high regard by the
3030 Texas House of Representatives.
