44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, A number of future leaders have provided
66 indispensable support as participants in the Texas Legislative
77 Internship Program during the 88th Legislative Session; and
88 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislative Internship Program was
99 established by State Senator Rodney Ellis in December 1990, and it
1010 is administered by Texas Southern University; the program provides
1111 students from Texas colleges and universities with a unique
1212 opportunity to serve as interns in the Texas Legislature, the
1313 United States Congress, and a variety of local, state, and national
1414 government agencies and public policy organizations; and
1515 WHEREAS, Students receive academic credit for participating
1616 in the program, which combines academic study and research with
1717 supervised practical training; as interns, they gain firsthand
1818 knowledge of the governmental process and work experience in a
1919 political environment, as well as insight into the issues facing
2020 our communities and our state today; and
2121 WHEREAS, This year's participants in the Texas Legislative
2222 Internship Program are Abigayle Abel, Alaina Dixon, Alexandria
2323 Gonzalez, Amajah Hall, Aylin Murillo, Chloe Hancock, Christopher
2424 Shafik, Claudia Cuellar, Cornelius Sabastian Berry, Courtney A.
2525 Doucet, D'Angelo Colter, David Freid, Dayleen Chery, DeAndre
2626 Jackson, Destiny Montemayor, Eraneshia Mims, Faris Husain,
2727 Franklin Achonye, Hawani Adugna, Jesha Magee, Jessica Fuqua,
2828 Katelyn Roy, Kimberly Bahena, Lacey Reynolds, Marissa Cummings,
2929 Marty Scott, Melissa Williams, Monique Dunbar, Natoya Inglis,
3030 Nicholas Basha, Nimitein Jane Bobmanuel, Nykia Wright, Rainier
3131 Porter, and RayVon Addison; and
3232 WHEREAS, Through the diligence and resourcefulness that they
3333 have demonstrated while performing a multitude of tasks, these
3434 admirable young men and women have contributed significantly to the
3535 offices they have served and, in turn, to the constituents who
3636 reside in their districts; now, therefore, be it
3737 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3838 Legislature hereby commend the members of the Texas Legislative
3939 Internship Program Class of the 88th Legislature for their
4040 excellent work and extend to them best wishes for the future; and,
4141 be it further
4242 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
4343 prepared for the class as an expression of high regard by the Texas
4444 House of Representatives.
