| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends were deeply saddened by the |

| 6 | 6 | | passing of Jerry Don Spikes of Bryan on April 23, 2023, at the age of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | 74; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Jerry Spikes was born on February 9, 1949, and he |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Jim, Rickey, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Sandy, and Dolly; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Spikes shared a rewarding marriage with his |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | first wife, Mary Katherine Spikes, and they were the proud parents |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | of two children, Rebecca and Cameron; after Mrs. Spikes's passing |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | in 2014, he was fortunate enough to find love again with his second |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | wife, Melissa; he had the pleasure of seeing his family grow to |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | include two stepsons, Booky and Riley, and six grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In his leisure time, Mr. Spikes enjoyed hunting, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | fishing, and playing golf, and he was loyal to the Fightin' Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Aggies; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Although Jerry Spikes is greatly missed, memories of |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | his warm and generous nature, his infectious smile, and his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | unwavering devotion to his family remain to comfort and inspire |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | those he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jerry Don Spikes and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be it |

| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
