| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Young people represent the future of our state, and |

| 6 | 6 | | providing for the diverse needs of students in Texas schools is |

| 7 | 7 | | critically important to ensuring that they receive an optimal |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Families deserve the peace of mind of knowing that |

| 10 | 10 | | their children are fully cared for when they are at school, and for |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | more than 120 years, school nurses have played a key role in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | ensuring the physical and mental health of students at the campuses |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | they serve; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, School nurses are nursing professionals who are |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | committed to the health, well-being, academic achievement, and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | lifelong success of students; working as members of school-based |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | teams, they address the home and community factors that impact |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | students' health, and they serve as liaisons to the school |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | community, families, and health care providers in order to promote |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | better health and wellness outcomes; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By providing access to care during a critical time |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in a child's development, school nurses help support a learning |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | environment where students are empowered to reach their full |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | academic potential, and the observance of School Nurse Day on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | May 10, 2023, serves as a fitting opportunity to acknowledge their |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | contributions to our state and nation; now, therefore, be it |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 10, 2023, as School Nurse Day and |

| 29 | 29 | | extend sincere appreciation to the Texas School Nurses Organization |

| 30 | 30 | | for its work to strengthen the practice of school nursing for the |
