R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Tom S. Ramsey is being honored as the Houston Area
Engineer of the Year at a gala event on February 24, 2023, as part of
Houston Engineers Week; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Ramsey
became a licensed professional engineer in 1979, and over the
course of his exemplary career, he has provided engineering
solutions for more than 50 cities and 20 counties in Texas; highly
esteemed in his field, he has held leadership positions with a
number of professional organizations, among them the American
Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers,
and the National Society of Professional Engineers; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Ramsey is the former mayor of Spring Valley
Village, and he currently serves as Harris County Commissioner for
Precinct 3; his accolades include the Young Engineer of the Year
award from the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional
Engineers, the Outstanding Young Houstonian award from the Houston
Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Public Official of the Year
award from the University of Houston; and
WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramsey enjoys the love and
support of a fine family that includes his wife, Marsha, and their
three children and seven grandchildren; a man of faith, he is an
active congregant of Second Baptist Church as well as a member of
the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Advisory Board; and
WHEREAS, Tom Ramsey's dedication, expertise, and commitment
to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans and earned
him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may indeed
reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he accepts this
prestigious award; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Tom S. Ramsey on his selection as
the 2023 Houston Area Engineer of the Year and extend to him sincere
best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Ramsey as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
