| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Tom S. Ramsey is being honored as the Houston Area |

| 6 | 6 | | Engineer of the Year at a gala event on February 24, 2023, as part of |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Houston Engineers Week; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Texas A&M University, Mr. Ramsey |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | became a licensed professional engineer in 1979, and over the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | course of his exemplary career, he has provided engineering |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | solutions for more than 50 cities and 20 counties in Texas; highly |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | esteemed in his field, he has held leadership positions with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | number of professional organizations, among them the American |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Public Works Association, the American Society of Civil Engineers, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and the National Society of Professional Engineers; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Ramsey is the former mayor of Spring Valley |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Village, and he currently serves as Harris County Commissioner for |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Precinct 3; his accolades include the Young Engineer of the Year |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | award from the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Engineers, the Outstanding Young Houstonian award from the Houston |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Junior Chamber of Commerce, and the Public Official of the Year |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | award from the University of Houston; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Ramsey enjoys the love and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | support of a fine family that includes his wife, Marsha, and their |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | three children and seven grandchildren; a man of faith, he is an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | active congregant of Second Baptist Church as well as a member of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary Advisory Board; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Tom Ramsey's dedication, expertise, and commitment |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | to excellence have greatly benefited his fellow Texans and earned |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | him the respect and admiration of his peers, and he may indeed |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | reflect with pride on his accomplishments as he accepts this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | prestigious award; now, therefore, be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Tom S. Ramsey on his selection as |

| 35 | 35 | | the 2023 Houston Area Engineer of the Year and extend to him sincere |
