No. 1680 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, National Golf Day is taking place across the country on May 10, 2023, and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to celebrate the new PGA of America complex in Frisco, a mecca for golf lovers; and WHEREAS, Observed each year on May 10, National Golf Day celebrates the sport that dates back to 15th-century Scotland; the day serves as a means of encouraging novice and amateur competitors to dust off their clubs and hit the course; it also highlights the sport's many positive benefits for individuals and communities and focuses attention on the efforts made in recent years to make golf more inclusive, accessible, and affordable for all; and WHEREAS, PGA Frisco, which opened in 2022, is the result of an innovative public-private agreement between the association, the City of Frisco, and other local stakeholders; serving as the organization's headquarters, the complex encompasses two championship golf courses and a short course, and it will host several PGA championship tournaments, with the KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship taking place in May 2023; moreover, PGA Frisco features an education center for associates working toward PGA membership and advanced coaching and practice facilities, and it anchors an important mixed-use development for the city; and WHEREAS, Whether enjoyed by players or as a spectator sport, golf is beloved by a multitude of enthusiasts across the Lone Star State and around the globe, and PGA Frisco promises to be a vibrant hub for the pastime in the decades ahead; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby celebrate the opening of the PGA of America complex in Frisco on the occasion of National Golf Day 2023; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the association as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
