44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The passing of Angela Kay Johnston of Lake Jackson
66 on April 20, 2023, at the age of 61, has brought an immeasurable
77 loss to her family and friends; and
88 WHEREAS, The former Angie Harrison was born in San Angelo on
99 March 23, 1962; the daughter of a naval officer, she moved around
1010 the country with her family throughout her youth; in 1980, she
1111 graduated from Lakewood High School in Tacoma, Washington, and she
1212 subsequently pursued studies at Angelo State University; she
1313 married Officer Scott Smith of the Odessa Police Department in
1414 1984, and they became the parents of two daughters, Krystal and
1515 Kelsie; and
1616 WHEREAS, After her first husband tragically lost his life in
1717 the line of duty in 1988, she was fortunate enough to find love a
1818 second time with Billy Johnston; the couple married and settled in
1919 Lake Jackson in 1993; Mrs. Johnston welcomed two more daughters,
2020 Amber and Traci, into her blended family, and later in life, she
2121 experienced the joy of becoming "Gigi" to her six grandchildren,
2222 Noah, James, Robert, Mikey, Peyton, and Ethen; and
2323 WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnston was employed as a senior
2424 administrative specialist for Dow Chemical Company and Olin
2525 Corporation; deeply devoted to her faith, she was active at Willow
2626 Drive Baptist Church, where she taught 9th and 10th grade Sunday
2727 school alongside her husband for two decades; she was an
2828 enthusiastic fan of the Houston Astros, and she also enjoyed taking
2929 motorcycle rides with her loved ones and friends; and
3030 WHEREAS, Although Angie Johnston is deeply missed, she will
3131 forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of those whom she
3232 blessed with her love, kindness, and friendship; now, therefore, be
3333 it
3434 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3535 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Angela Kay Johnston
3636 and extend profound sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be
3737 it further
3838 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3939 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
4040 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Angela Kay
4141 Johnston.
