5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The passing of Angela Kay Johnston of Lake Jackson |

6 | 6 | | on April 20, 2023, at the age of 61, has brought an immeasurable |
---|
7 | 7 | | loss to her family and friends; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The former Angie Harrison was born in San Angelo on |
---|
9 | 9 | | March 23, 1962; the daughter of a naval officer, she moved around |
---|
10 | 10 | | the country with her family throughout her youth; in 1980, she |
---|
11 | 11 | | graduated from Lakewood High School in Tacoma, Washington, and she |
---|
12 | 12 | | subsequently pursued studies at Angelo State University; she |
---|
13 | 13 | | married Officer Scott Smith of the Odessa Police Department in |
---|
14 | 14 | | 1984, and they became the parents of two daughters, Krystal and |
---|
15 | 15 | | Kelsie; and |
---|
16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, After her first husband tragically lost his life in |
---|
17 | 17 | | the line of duty in 1988, she was fortunate enough to find love a |
---|
18 | 18 | | second time with Billy Johnston; the couple married and settled in |
---|
19 | 19 | | Lake Jackson in 1993; Mrs. Johnston welcomed two more daughters, |
---|
20 | 20 | | Amber and Traci, into her blended family, and later in life, she |
---|
21 | 21 | | experienced the joy of becoming "Gigi" to her six grandchildren, |
---|
22 | 22 | | Noah, James, Robert, Mikey, Peyton, and Ethen; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Johnston was employed as a senior |
---|
24 | 24 | | administrative specialist for Dow Chemical Company and Olin |
---|
25 | 25 | | Corporation; deeply devoted to her faith, she was active at Willow |
---|
26 | 26 | | Drive Baptist Church, where she taught 9th and 10th grade Sunday |
---|
27 | 27 | | school alongside her husband for two decades; she was an |
---|
28 | 28 | | enthusiastic fan of the Houston Astros, and she also enjoyed taking |
---|
29 | 29 | | motorcycle rides with her loved ones and friends; and |
---|
30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Although Angie Johnston is deeply missed, she will |
---|
31 | 31 | | forever hold a cherished place in the hearts of those whom she |
---|
32 | 32 | | blessed with her love, kindness, and friendship; now, therefore, be |
---|
33 | 33 | | it |

34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Angela Kay Johnston |
---|
36 | 36 | | and extend profound sympathy to all who mourn her passing; and, be |
