55 WHEREAS, For more than a century, a day has been set aside
66 each year to honor those very special women among us, the mothers
77 who brought us into this world, protected us, and taught us how to
88 make our way, and on May 14, 2023, Texans and indeed all Americans
99 will join in celebrating Mother's Day in the United States; and
1010 WHEREAS, It is fitting that Mother's Day should be observed
1111 in the spring, when we see evidence of nature's renewal all around
1212 us; mothers give life, and they give unconditional love,
1313 encouraging their sons and daughters to work hard and to follow
1414 their dreams; and
1515 WHEREAS, On this meaningful day, we pay tribute to mothers
1616 for their determination to give their children the keys to a bright
1717 and promising future; resourceful and fearless in looking out for
1818 their loved ones of all ages, they are heroes in every sense of the
1919 word; and
2020 WHEREAS, Motherhood has been called "the toughest job you'll
2121 ever love," for it encompasses a tremendous range of challenges,
2222 opportunities, frustrations, and joys, and the ultimate rewards,
2323 intangible though they may be, are among life's most poignant and
2424 enduring; all mothers share a powerful bond in the love they have
2525 for their children, and that love, strong and true, enriches our
2626 world beyond measure; now, therefore, be it
2727 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2828 Legislature hereby commemorate Mother's Day 2023, honor all
2929 mothers, including the members of this chamber who are moms, and pay
3030 tribute to the mothers who have passed on but endure in the memories
3131 of all those who held them dear.
