| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The observance of Father's Day on June 18, 2023, |

| 6 | 6 | | provides a welcome opportunity for all Texans to express their |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | gratitude to the fathers and father figures who have enriched their |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | lives and shaped their characters; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Father's Day was officially recognized in 1966, when |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | President Lyndon B. Johnson issued the first presidential |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | proclamation honoring fathers and designating the third Sunday in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | June as Father's Day; it became a permanent national holiday in |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 1972, when President Richard Nixon signed it into law; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Fathers serve as role models, protectors, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | providers, and friends; above all, they strive to instill in their |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | children enduring values and a sure sense of right and wrong; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Being a good father means providing the structure, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | guidance, and love that children need to flourish, and on Father's |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Day, we honor those who have stepped forward and taken on this |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | challenging yet rewarding responsibility; now, therefore, be it |

| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 22 | 22 | | Legislature hereby commemorate Father's Day 2023 and pay tribute to |

| 23 | 23 | | the caring men who have dedicated their lives to building strong |

| 24 | 24 | | families and to inspiring their children to reach their full |
