| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Highly ranked throughout the regular season, |

| 9 | 9 | | Amarillo surrendered just 19 points en route to winning the |

| 10 | 10 | | District 3-5A title; the Sandies carried their momentum into the |

| 11 | 11 | | postseason, dispatching Lubbock Cooper, El Paso Jefferson, Abilene |

| 12 | 12 | | Wylie, Argyle, and Lubbock High Schools to secure the Region 1-5A |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | crown and advance to the state tournament; in the semifinals, the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | squad cruised to an 11-0 victory over Austin Liberal Arts and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Science Academy to clinch a berth in the finals; and |

| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, On October 27, Amarillo took the court against |

| 17 | 17 | | Frisco Centennial High School with the state crown on the line; the |

| 18 | 18 | | Sandies recorded victories in five singles matches and five doubles |

| 19 | 19 | | matches to triumph by a final score of 10-7; with the win, the |

| 20 | 20 | | Amarillo players collected the first team tennis state championship |

| 21 | 21 | | in school history and ended a storybook season with a record of 29 |
