5	5	WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
6	6	meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
7	7	of admired disability awareness advocate Randell Keith Resneder of
8	8	Lubbock, who passed away on February 11, 2022, at the age of 48; and
9	9	WHEREAS, The son of Norma Arnold Resneder and Robert
10	10	Resneder, Randell Resneder was born in Lubbock on December 31,
11	11	1973; he considered his cerebral palsy a gift he was given at birth,
12	12	enabling him to demonstrate that a disability does not define an
13	13	individual or determine what they can accomplish; and
14	14	WHEREAS, While attending William S. Hart High School in Santa
15	15	Clarita, California, Mr. Resneder became a trailblazer in
16	16	mainstreaming; he addressed the confusion and bias of fellow
17	17	students who lacked exposure to people with disabilities, and he
18	18	organized an awareness week featuring motivational speakers with
19	19	disabilities, as well as wheelchair races and other activities; it
20	20	became an annual event, and he launched a similar program as a
21	21	student at College of the Canyons; his accomplishments earned him
22	22	recognition from the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, the
23	23	Los Angeles Times, and numerous community groups and publications;
24	24	and
25	25	WHEREAS, Mr. Resneder went on to earn a bachelor's degree in
26	26	family studies and human development from the University of North
27	27	Texas and both a master's degree in interdisciplinary studies and a
28	28	master of education degree in instructional technology from Texas
29	29	Tech University; the founder of Disability Awareness Programs of
30	30	Texas, he was its executive director and served as a consultant and
31	31	speaker on special needs issues; he received gubernatorial
32	32	appointments to the Texas Council for Developmental Disabilities
33	33	and the Texas State Independent Living Council; sustained by a
34	34	strong faith, he was a member of First Christian Church and a
35	35	supporter of the Special Friends Ministry at Bacon Heights Baptist
36	36	Church, where he occasionally preached to members of the special
37	37	needs community and their loved ones; and
38	38	WHEREAS, Randell Resneder made a positive difference in
39	39	countless lives through his tireless efforts in behalf of people
40	40	with disabilities, and his courage, determination, and compassion
41	41	will remain a lasting source of inspiration to all who were
42	42	fortunate enough to know him; now, therefore, be it
43	43	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
44	44	Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Randell Keith
45	45	Resneder and that sincere sympathy be extended to the members of his
46	46	family: to his parents, Norma and Robert Resneder; to his twin
47	47	brother, Rob Resneder, and his wife, Heather; to his nieces and
48	48	nephews, Charlotte, RJ, and Garrett Resneder; to his grandmother,
49	49	Imogene Davis; and to his many other relatives and friends; and, be
50	50	it further
51	51	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
52	52	prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
53	53	Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Randell
54	54	Resneder.
