| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Roger Green is retiring as an agriculture teacher at |

| 6 | 6 | | Monterey High School in Lubbock in 2023, drawing to a close an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outstanding career in education that has spanned more than four and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | a half decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, A member of the Class of 1970 at Spur High School, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Mr. Green went on to graduate from Texas Tech University in 1974, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | and throughout his life, he has upheld the university's motto, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | "Strive for Honor"; after embarking on his teaching career, he |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | gained valuable experience at public schools across the Lone Star |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | State, working in Crosbyton and Fredericksburg in addition to his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | many years of service with the Lubbock Independent School District; |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his responsibilities in teaching |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | agriculture at Monterey High, Mr. Green has served as the Lubbock |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | ISD ag farm manager, and he has coached five state championship |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | judging teams; his accolades include recognition as the Lubbock ISD |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | PTA Teacher of the Decade, and he collected his second Monterey |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Teacher of the Year award in 2022-2023; moreover, he has received |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | the Mrs. Baird's Teacher on the Rise Award, and in 2021, he was |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | presented with a 45-year Tenure Award by the Agriculture Teachers |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Association of Texas; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Highly respected by his peers, Mr. Green has served |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | as the Area 7 president on the ATAT Board of Directors and as the |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Area 1 State AG Degree chair; moreover, he is a former mayor of |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Stonewall and a past president of the Stonewall Chamber of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Commerce; and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | WHEREAS, Roger Green's dedication and expertise have |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | benefited countless students and earned him the lasting respect and |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | admiration of his colleagues, and he may indeed take great pride in |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | his exceptional record of achievement as he embarks on the next |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 37 | 37 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Roger Green on his retirement from |
|---|
| 38 | 38 | | Monterey High School and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
