5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Milton Y. Tate Jr. is stepping down as mayor of |
---|
6 | 6 | | Brenham in 2023, drawing to a close two decades of dedicated service |
---|
7 | 7 | | to the city; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Tate first became mayor in September 2003, when |
---|
9 | 9 | | he completed the unexpired term of the late Walter Schwartz, and he |
---|
10 | 10 | | was elected to his first full term in 2005; demonstrating strong |
---|
11 | 11 | | leadership over the course of his tenure, he has ably guided the |
---|
12 | 12 | | city's growth and served his fellow citizens with distinction; and |
---|
13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his responsibilities as mayor, |
---|
14 | 14 | | Mr. Tate has enjoyed a successful legal career; he has worked in |
---|
15 | 15 | | private practice and previously served as county attorney for |
---|
16 | 16 | | Washington County and as city attorney for the City of Brenham; over |
---|
17 | 17 | | the years, he has given generously of his time and talents to the |
---|
18 | 18 | | Brenham Rotary Club and several organizations affiliated with The |
---|
19 | 19 | | University of Texas; moreover, he is a former member of the board of |
---|
20 | 20 | | directors of the Lower Colorado River Authority, the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Brenham/Washington County Economic Development Organization, and |
---|
22 | 22 | | Trinity Medical Center; he holds a bachelor's degree in business |
---|
23 | 23 | | administration from UT, and he is a 1963 graduate of the UT School |
---|
24 | 24 | | of Law; and |
---|
25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Tate enjoys the love and |
---|
26 | 26 | | support of a fine family that includes his wife, Twila, and their |
---|
27 | 27 | | daughters and grandchildren; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, Milton Tate has greatly benefited the residents of |
---|
29 | 29 | | Brenham through his visionary leadership, expertise, and |
---|
30 | 30 | | commitment to excellence, and he may indeed reflect with pride on |
---|
31 | 31 | | his many contributions as he begins the next exciting chapter of his |
---|
32 | 32 | | life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby commend Milton Y. Tate Jr. on his service as |
---|
35 | 35 | | mayor of Brenham and extend to him sincere best wishes for the |
---|
36 | 36 | | future; and, be it further |
---|
37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
