| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Linda Morales has distinguished herself through her |

| 6 | 6 | | decades of work on behalf of labor unions across Texas and the |

| 7 | 7 | | United States; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since December 2014, Ms. Morales has served as the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | organizing coordinator of the Texas Gulf Coast Area Labor |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Federation, AFL-CIO, which unites the power of 95 unions and 60,000 |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | union members to advocate for working families in 13 Houston-area |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | counties; she has proven to be a dedicated champion for the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | organization's affiliated unions, and she has played an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | instrumental role in expanding the federation's efforts and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | establishing coalitions to address workforce policy issues; her |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | many other responsibilities have included guiding training |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | workshops, promoting leadership development, supporting electoral |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | work, and recruiting members; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Morales previously served the national American |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations, the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Sheet Metal Workers International Union, AFL-CIO, and Service |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Employees International Union Local 1; she was also lead organizer |

| 23 | 23 | | for the California Nurses Association/National Nurses Organizing |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Committee; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Linda Morales has greatly benefited countless |

| 26 | 26 | | working men and women through her exceptional commitment and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | leadership, and it is a pleasure to honor her for her dedication to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | going above and beyond as an avid fighter for civil and human |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | rights; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby commend Linda Morales for her contributions to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | labor unions and extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; |
