| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Black Expo marked its 20th anniversary in |

| 6 | 6 | | 2022, and the organization is celebrating that special milestone as |

| 7 | 7 | | part of its signature event, the Summer Celebration Tradeshow, |

| 8 | 8 | | taking place May 18-21, 2023, in Houston; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2002, the Texas Black Expo is a |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | nonprofit organization committed to fostering business growth and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | development, introducing youth to entrepreneurship, and sponsoring |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | events designed to inform and economically empower members of the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | community; from its origins as a once-a-year trade show in Houston, |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | the group has broadened its mission and expanded its reach to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | include affiliate chapters throughout the state; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Black Expo was founded by its president |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and CEO, Jerome Love, who has also distinguished himself as an |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | entrepreneur and professional speaker; he has addressed such |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | high-profile gatherings as the Los Angeles Mayor's Economic |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Development Summit and the New Mexico State Leadership Conference, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and his business achievements have been honored with a number of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | accolades, including recognition as the Multi-Million Dollar Top |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Producer by Prudential Texas Realty and as Entrepreneur of the Year |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | by the Houston Chapter of the National Black MBA Association; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, The expo's Summer Celebration is one of the state's |

| 26 | 26 | | largest African American trade shows, and it facilitates networking |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | and the discovery of new business opportunities for its 20,000 |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | attendees; more than 200 companies enhance their visibility by |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | exhibiting each year; in addition to business development seminars, |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the Summer Celebration features health and wellness programming, |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | women's forums, concert performances, celebrity entertainers, and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | other cultural content; a highlight of the 2023 event is the |

| 33 | 33 | | corporate luncheon featuring NBA legend and famed entrepreneur |

| 34 | 34 | | Earvin "Magic" Johnson as keynote speaker; and |

| 35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, Committed to developing resilient businesses, the |

| 36 | 36 | | Texas Black Expo has helped many small companies and organizations |

| 37 | 37 | | build a strong foundation for growth, and in so doing, it has helped |

| 38 | 38 | | to increase the prosperity of their communities and the economic |
|---|
| 39 | 39 | | dynamism of the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it |

| 40 | 40 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 41 | 41 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Texas Black Expo on its 20th |

| 42 | 42 | | anniversary and extend to all those associated with this noteworthy |
