5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Amanda Villarreal Salvo and her newborn son, Gabriel |

6 | 6 | | Sebastian Salvo, have faced extraordinary medical challenges since |

7 | 7 | | Mrs. Salvo developed life-threatening preeclampsia in December |
---|
8 | 8 | | 2022, but with the support of her husband and Gabriel's father, |
---|
9 | 9 | | Michael Salvo, and other loved ones, they have demonstrated |
---|
10 | 10 | | inspiring grace and courage during this immensely difficult time; |
---|
11 | 11 | | and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, At 28 weeks pregnant, Mrs. Salvo was visiting family |
---|
13 | 13 | | in Corpus Christi when she was rushed to the hospital for emergency |
---|
14 | 14 | | medical treatment on December 29; after her blood pressure spiked |
---|
15 | 15 | | and her unborn son's heart rate decelerated, Mrs. Salvo was |
---|
16 | 16 | | expedited to surgery on the night of January 2, 2023; during an |
---|
17 | 17 | | emergency c-section, she gave birth to Gabriel, who weighed only 2 |
---|
18 | 18 | | pounds, 4 ounces, and the newborn was immediately taken to the |
---|
19 | 19 | | hospital's neonatal intensive care unit; mother and son were |
---|
20 | 20 | | reunited 48 hours later, after Mrs. Salvo underwent multiple |
---|
21 | 21 | | operations and transfusions following the birth; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Salvo spent nearly two weeks in the hospital, |
---|
23 | 23 | | and Gabriel continues to require hospitalization; because the |
---|
24 | 24 | | family was in the process of moving to their new home in Round Rock |
---|
25 | 25 | | at the time, Mr. Salvo spent long hours driving back and forth |
---|
26 | 26 | | between Corpus Christi and Central Texas in the weeks following the |
---|
27 | 27 | | birth; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, On April 19, Gabriel was transferred to Dell |
---|
29 | 29 | | Children's Medical Center in Austin, bringing him closer to the |
---|
30 | 30 | | family's new home, and he successfully underwent surgery on April |
---|
31 | 31 | | 28; Mrs. Salvo is required to take medication daily to prevent |
---|
32 | 32 | | seizures or stroke, and both she and her husband have returned to |
---|
33 | 33 | | work to support the family and continue covering Gabriel's medical |
---|
34 | 34 | | expenses; and |
---|
35 | 35 | | WHEREAS, The Salvo family and their many loved ones are |
---|
36 | 36 | | hopeful that brighter days are ahead, and they may take comfort in |
---|
37 | 37 | | knowing that they are in the thoughts and prayers of all who have |
---|
38 | 38 | | heard their story; now, therefore, be it |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
---|
40 | 40 | | Legislature hereby extend best wishes to Amanda Villarreal Salvo |
---|
41 | 41 | | and her newborn son, Gabriel Sebastian Salvo, as they continue on |

42 | 42 | | the road to recovery and commend Mr. and Mrs. Salvo and the members |
---|
43 | 43 | | of their extended family for the strength, faith, and courage they |

44 | 44 | | have demonstrated in this trying time; and, be it further |
