| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Deputy Chief Bruce Kunz is retiring from the |

| 6 | 6 | | Mesquite Fire Department in 2023, drawing to a close an outstanding |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | career with the agency that has spanned 34 years; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Kunz joined the Mesquite Fire Department on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | April 18, 1988, and eight years later, he became a driver-engineer; |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | he went on to become a lieutenant in 1999, and he accepted a |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | position as captain in 2005; he subsequently served a brief stint as |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | deputy chief before returning to the role of captain in 2013; in May |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 2015, he was promoted to deputy chief of the EMS and Training |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Division; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Among his many achievements, Chief Kunz was named |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the 2018 Officer of the Year in recognition of his exemplary |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | leadership and professionalism; in addition, he received a Life |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Saving Award in 1998; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Bruce Kunz's dedication, hard work, and commitment |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | to excellence have greatly benefited the citizens of Mesquite and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and he may indeed reflect with pride on a career well spent as he |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | embarks on the next exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Deputy Chief Bruce Kunz on his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | retirement from the Mesquite Fire Department and extend to him |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
