44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Angela Burley has been named the 2022-2023 Secondary
66 Teacher of the Year for the Dallas Independent School District; and
77 WHEREAS, Ms. Burley teaches sixth grade world cultures at
88 Dr. Frederick Douglass Todd Sr. Middle School in Dallas, where she
99 also serves as the department chair and social studies lead; she has
1010 earned recognition as a Distinguished Exemplary II teacher in
1111 Dallas ISD, as well as certification as a master teacher in the
1212 State of Texas; and
1313 WHEREAS, After receiving her bachelor's degree from the
1414 University of North Texas, Ms. Burley obtained her master of
1515 education degree in learning, teaching, and curriculum from the
1616 University of Missouri; she proudly served as a 2021-2022 Teach
1717 Plus Fellow, and she is currently a 2022-2023 Senior Fellow for the
1818 Recruitment and Retention of Teachers of Color cohort; and
1919 WHEREAS, Angela Burley exemplifies the passion,
2020 determination, and innovative spirit that are the hallmarks of our
2121 best teachers, and she has set a standard of excellence to which all
2222 in her profession may aspire; now, therefore, be it
2323 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2424 Legislature hereby congratulate Angela Burley on her selection as
2525 the 2022-2023 Secondary Teacher of the Year for the Dallas
2626 Independent School District and extend to her sincere best wishes
2727 for continued success with her important work; and, be it further
2828 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2929 prepared for Ms. Burley as an expression of high regard by the Texas
3030 House of Representatives.
