| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Independent School District has |

| 6 | 6 | | received a 2023 H-E-B Excellence in Education Award; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Since 2002, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | program has annually recognized teachers, administrators, schools, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | school districts, and school boards from across the Lone Star |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | State; the school district award recognizes those districts that |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | have worked to achieve student progress through innovative |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | programs, parent and community engagement, and professional |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | development for teachers and administrators; Corpus Christi ISD was |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | selected from a group of five finalists in the large school district |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | category and was presented with a $100,000 grant; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Corpus Christi ISD currently serves approximately |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 33,000 students at 56 campuses; under the able leadership of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | superintendent Dr. Roland Hernandez, the district offers a wide |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | range of academic and extracurricular opportunities that help equip |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | students with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | including numerous advanced academics and career and technical |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | education courses, as well as a number of fine arts and world |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | languages programs; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The Corpus Christi Independent School District has |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | provided generations of young Texans with a strong foundation on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | which to build, and its fine reputation is a source of tremendous |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | pride to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Corpus Christi Independent |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | School District on its receipt of the 2023 H-E-B Excellence in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Education Award and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | district sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it |
