| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Roy Gutierrez retired as superintendent of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | utilities for the City of Robstown Utility Systems on June 30, 2021, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | drawing to a close an exemplary career that spanned more than four |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | decades; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, First hired in 1976, Mr. Gutierrez held a number of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | positions with the city, including administrative assistant, city |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | secretary, and civil service director before becoming |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | superintendent of utilities for the City of Robstown Utility |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Systems; over the course of his tenure, he played an instrumental |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | role in securing nearly $2 million in grant funding for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | infrastructure improvements, and he helped to eliminate municipal |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | debt and to ensure the financial stability of CORUS; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This esteemed public servant has further |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | contributed to his fellow citizens as chair of the Robstown Housing |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Authority Board of Directors for 10 years and as a member of several |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | other civic and charitable boards; he served for six years on the |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Executive Committee of the Wesley Community Center Board of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Directors, and he chaired the committee that created the Robstown |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Area Development Commission, on which he served; in addition, he |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | was a member of the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Coastal Bend Board of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Directors and a charter member of the Corpus Christi Northwest |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Rotary Club; a man of faith, he is a valued congregant of |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, With his professionalism, dedication, and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | commitment to excellence, Roy Gutierrez has greatly benefited the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | residents of Robstown, and he may indeed reflect with pride on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | outstanding record of achievement as he begins the next exciting |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Roy Gutierrez on his retirement as |

| 35 | 35 | | superintendent of utilities for the City of Robstown Utility |
