| 6 | 6 | | winner of the Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in Community |

| 7 | 7 | | Service by the American Hospital Association; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Baxter International Foundation, |

| 9 | 9 | | the AHA, and the AHA-affiliated Health Research & Educational |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Trust, the Foster G. McGaw Prize is awarded annually to a health |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | care organization that has gone above and beyond to improve |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | community health and health equity by forging innovative |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | partnerships; Memorial Hermann Health System was honored with the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | award in April 2023 at the AHA Annual Membership Meeting in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Washington, D.C., where it received $100,000 to go toward programs |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | that will further these goals; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, With a network of 32,000 employees, 6,700 affiliated |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | physicians, and over 265 care delivery sites, Memorial Hermann is |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | one of the largest not-for-profit health systems in the state of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Texas; Memorial Hermann has been hailed for its many |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | community-focused initiatives, which include a free, 24-hour nurse |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | health line that directs callers to the appropriate level of care, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | thereby helping them to avoid costly and unnecessary emergency room |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | visits; it is also recognized for the positive impact it has had in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | the area through its physical fitness initiative StepHEALTHY, its |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | health centers serving children who are uninsured or covered by |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Medicaid, its comprehensive community resource centers, and its |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | mental health crisis clinics; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Memorial Hermann Health System has distinguished |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | itself not only as a premier health care provider but also as a |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | considerable force for good in the Greater Houston area, and it has |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | set a standard of excellence to which other hospital systems may |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | aspire; now, therefore, be it |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 35 | 35 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Memorial Hermann Health System on |

| 36 | 36 | | its receipt of the 2023 Foster G. McGaw Prize for Excellence in |

| 37 | 37 | | Community Service from the American Hospital Association and extend |

| 38 | 38 | | sincere best wishes to all those affiliated with this outstanding |
