| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, An exemplary student received well-deserved |

| 6 | 6 | | recognition when Ashley Delgado was named a University of Texas at |

| 7 | 7 | | El Paso Top Ten Senior for 2023; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Presented by the UTEP Alumni Association, the award |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | recognizes the university's most promising graduating or recently |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | graduated seniors; honorees are chosen on the basis of multiple |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | criteria, including academic achievement, involvement, leadership, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | and service, both in the community and on campus; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A first-generation college student, Ms. Delgado |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | graduated from UTEP with honors with a degree in electrical |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | engineering in 2022 and, as a participant in the school's |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Fast-Track Dual-Credit BS/MS Program, she is now pursuing a |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | master's degree in computer engineering; a recipient of the Terry |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Foundation Scholarship, she is committed to supporting minorities |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and girls interested in engineering, and she hopes to create a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | student organization that would offer mentorship services to |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | low-income, first-generation Hispanic students; her extensive list |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | of accomplishments includes completing internships and projects |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | with NASA, Raytheon Technologies, Google, and the Lockheed Martin |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Corporation, and she plans to pursue a career in the technology |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | industry; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Through the dedication she has demonstrated in all |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | her endeavors, Ashley Delgado has built a strong foundation for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | continued achievement, and she is indeed deserving of this |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be it |

| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Ashley Delgado on her receipt of a |
