7 | 7 | | Center Day at the State Capitol on March 15, 2023; and |

8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Texas SBDC Network is part of America's SBDC, a |
---|
9 | 9 | | national program established by the Small Business Development |
---|
10 | 10 | | Center Act of 1979; since its inception, America's SBDC has grown to |
---|
11 | 11 | | include around 1,000 service centers and more than 5,000 |
---|
12 | 12 | | professional business advisors who provide personalized and |
---|
13 | 13 | | confidential assistance to small business owners; today, the Texas |
---|
14 | 14 | | SBDC Network encompasses four lead offices at universities and |
---|
15 | 15 | | colleges across the state and over 50 field and specialty centers in |
---|
16 | 16 | | urban and rural areas; and |
---|
17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, For more than three and a half decades, the Texas |
---|
18 | 18 | | SBDC Network has provided business consulting to clients at no cost |
---|
19 | 19 | | and offered affordable training to guide small businesses through |
---|
20 | 20 | | every stage of development; in 2022, the organization helped |
---|
21 | 21 | | businesses access over $829 million in financing, including Small |
---|
22 | 22 | | Business Administration COVID-19 disaster loans; moreover, it is |
---|
23 | 23 | | estimated that the network's efforts in the past year saved nearly |
---|
24 | 24 | | 17,000 jobs and created some 10,500 jobs, and companies affiliated |
---|
25 | 25 | | with the organization generated approximately $553 million in new |
---|
26 | 26 | | sales and $92 million in tax revenue; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, The Texas SBDC Network has contributed immeasurably |
---|
28 | 28 | | to the success of numerous new and existing companies, and in so |
---|
29 | 29 | | doing, it has greatly enhanced the economic prosperity of the Lone |
---|
30 | 30 | | Star State; now, therefore, be it |

31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

32 | 32 | | Legislature hereby recognize March 15, 2023, as Texas Small |
---|
33 | 33 | | Business Development Center Day at the State Capitol and extend to |
---|
34 | 34 | | all those associated with the Texas Small Business Development |
---|
35 | 35 | | Center Network sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable |
