| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, David Martinez is retiring from the Port of Corpus |

| 6 | 6 | | Christi on April 30, 2022, drawing to a close an exemplary career |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | that has spanned more than three decades; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Since January 1990, Mr. Martinez has served as the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | vessel traffic controller for the Port of Corpus Christi, the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | nation's largest port based on total revenue tonnage; among his |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | many responsibilities, he monitors and maintains records on vessel |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | movements, notifies ship agents of arrivals from the U.S. Coast |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Guard, and facilitates the timely and efficient movement of cargo; |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Widely respected, Mr. Martinez is vice chair of the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Board of Commissioners for Nueces County Drainage District No. 2 |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | and sits on the board of the Robstown Area Development Commission; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | he has further distinguished himself as a board member for the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority and the Robstown |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Area Development Corporation, as a commissioner for the Robstown |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Housing Authority, and as chair of the Robstown Civil Service |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Commission; additionally, he is a former Nueces County road and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | bridge advisor; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, The skill, professionalism, and commitment to |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | excellence demonstrated by David Martinez have made him an |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | important asset to the Port of Corpus Christi, and he may indeed |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | reflect with pride on his contributions as he embarks on the next |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature hereby congratulate David Martinez on his retirement |

| 31 | 31 | | from the Port of Corpus Christi and extend to him sincere best |

| 32 | 32 | | wishes for the future; and, be it further |
