| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The 50th annual Strawberry Festival is taking place |

| 6 | 6 | | in Pasadena on May 18 through 21, 2023; and |

| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, First held as a one-time celebration on a football |

| 8 | 8 | | practice field, the Pasadena Strawberry Festival has grown to |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | become one of the largest annual events in the area, attracting more |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | than 50,000 visitors each year; the festival celebrates the city's |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | agricultural history and a time when it was known as the Strawberry |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Capital of the South; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This much-anticipated event features a variety of |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | activities and attractions, including a barbecue cook-off, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | helicopter rides, a carnival, parades, and a mud volleyball |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | tournament; in addition, guests can enjoy live music and other |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | performances; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Proceeds from the festival support local nonprofit |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | organizations and provide scholarships for graduates of area high |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | schools; and |

| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, A fun occasion for all ages, the Pasadena Strawberry |

| 22 | 22 | | Festival is a beloved community tradition, and it promises to be a |

| 23 | 23 | | source of fond memories for all those in attendance; now, |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
