| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Joining the other top high school competitors in |

| 10 | 10 | | Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium in Austin on May 11, Ms. Nunez |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | captured three of her gold medals in individual events; she set |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Class 3A state meet records in the long jump by soaring 20 feet, 2.5 |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | inches, as well as in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.44 |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | seconds, breaking the meet mark she set at last year's competition; |

| 15 | 15 | | moreover, she won the 200 meters with a blistering time of 23.42 |

| 16 | 16 | | seconds, which would have resulted in another record had it not been |

| 17 | 17 | | ruled to be aided by the wind; and |

| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In the 400-meter relay, Ms. Nunez ran the anchor leg |

| 19 | 19 | | for the Randolph squad, and she and teammates Jaela Smith, Cai |

| 20 | 20 | | Rogers, and Jourdann Cathro collected the state crown with a total |

| 21 | 21 | | time of 47.27 seconds; the victory was part of dominant showing by |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | the Ro-Hawk athletes, who clinched the 3A team championship by a |

| 23 | 23 | | wide margin; and |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Nunez is continuing a family tradition with her |

| 25 | 25 | | success in track and field; her mother, Tameka Nunez, was a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | seven-time All-American while competing for The University of Texas |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | at San Antonio under her maiden name, Tameka Roberts; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, By excelling in the state's premier showcase for |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | high school track and field athletes, Taylor Nunez has ably |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | represented her school and community, and she will cherish her |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | memories of this outstanding accomplishment for years to come; now, |
|---|

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Taylor Nunez on winning four gold |
