4	4	R E S O L U T I O N
5	5	WHEREAS, It is the goal of the Harlingen Consolidated
6	6	Independent School District to contribute to the development of a
7	7	competent and qualified workforce in our area and state by ensuring
8	8	that every student who graduates from the district is college and
9	9	career ready; and
10	10	WHEREAS, One such future graduate is Victoria R. Garcia of
11	11	Harlingen High School, a multifaceted individual who possesses
12	12	commitment, determination, and a passion to excel in all areas of
13	13	her life; and
14	14	WHEREAS, As a skilled tradesperson, Ms. Garcia has competed
15	15	throughout her high school career in masonry events, where
16	16	contestants are predominantly young men; she achieved second place
17	17	at the 2023 Spec Mix Junior Bricklayer 500, first place at the 2023
18	18	SkillsUSA Texas District 13 competition, and first place at the
19	19	2023 SkillsUSA Texas Leadership and Skills Conference; and
20	20	WHEREAS, She is preparing to represent the state of Texas
21	21	this summer at the SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills
22	22	Conference in Atlanta, Georgia; and
23	23	WHEREAS, In accomplishing her goals, Ms. Garcia has
24	24	benefited greatly from the support of her family and others who have
25	25	cultivated her talent; these individuals include Liz Graves, chair
26	26	of the Texas Masonry Council's Workforce Development Committee, and
27	27	Ashton White, workforce coordinator for the Texas Masonry Council's
28	28	Masonry Rocks career program, as well as two of her teachers at
29	29	Harlingen High School, Victor Santillan and Rolando Cuellar; and
30	30	WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia has also received recognition from the
31	31	Rio Grande Valley Chapter of Associated General Contractors at its
32	32	Women in Construction event, and she participated in "Masonry Days"
33	33	with the Texas Masonry Council in San Antonio to help other high
34	34	school students learn the masonry trade; and
35	35	WHEREAS, In addition to her achievements in masonry,
36	36	Ms. Garcia has made her mark in other areas of her life; she is an
37	37	active member of her school's student council, where she has worked
38	38	tirelessly to enhance the student experience, foster school spirit,
39	39	and advocate for positive change; and
40	40	WHEREAS, Ms. Garcia's mission is to continue to strive for
41	41	excellence in all aspects of her life, using her talents and skills
42	42	to make a difference in her community; she is committed to achieving
43	43	her goals and inspiring others to do the same; after graduating from
44	44	high school, she will continue her education at Texas State
45	45	Technical College in Harlingen as a member of the Building
46	46	Construction Technology Program, where she will pursue her goal of
47	47	working in the construction industry as a construction manager; and
48	48	WHEREAS, Victoria Garcia's leadership skills, passion for
49	49	service, and dedication to excellence have earned her the respect
50	50	and admiration of her peers and teachers, and she is indeed
51	51	deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
52	52	RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
53	53	Legislature hereby honor Victoria R. Garcia for her accomplishments
54	54	in masonry and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued
55	55	success in all her endeavors; and, be it further
56	56	RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
57	57	prepared for Ms. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
58	58	House of Representatives.
