| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Zurri Zamora of Tascosa High School in Amarillo |

| 7 | 7 | | 5A girls' competition at the 2023 University Interscholastic League |

| 8 | 8 | | Wrestling State Tournament; and |

| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Competing in the 100-pound weight class, Ms. Zamora |

| 10 | 10 | | qualified for the state meet after dominating the competition to |

| 11 | 11 | | claim the district and regional crowns; on February 17 and 18, she |

| 12 | 12 | | joined the top high school wrestlers in Texas at the Berry Center in |

| 13 | 13 | | Cypress; demonstrating tremendous skill and determination in all |

| 14 | 14 | | her matches, she advanced through the bracket to ultimately clinch |

| 15 | 15 | | the silver medal in her division; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Zamora went on to compete at the 2023 National |

| 17 | 17 | | High School Coaches Association High School Nationals, held March |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | 24 through 26 in Virginia Beach, Virginia; there, she earned |

| 19 | 19 | | All-American status for her strong showing in the 100-pound weight |

|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, By medaling in the state's premier showcase for high |

| 22 | 22 | | school wrestlers, Zurri Zamora has ably represented her school and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | community, and she will long cherish her memories of this |

| 24 | 24 | | outstanding accomplishment; now, therefore, be it |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Zurri Zamora on winning the silver |

| 27 | 27 | | medal in the 5A 100-pound weight class at the 2023 UIL Wrestling |
