9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On February 17 and 18, the Rebels joined the other |

10 | 10 | | top high school teams at the state meet in Cypress; turning in an |

11 | 11 | | exceptional performance, the Tascosa wrestlers posted a total team |

12 | 12 | | score of 112 points, outdistancing runner-up Lucas Lovejoy High |

13 | 13 | | School by three points to claim the title; the victory was an |
---|
14 | 14 | | important milestone in the history of the Rebel wrestling program, |

15 | 15 | | providing the boys' team with its inaugural UIL state championship; |

17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tascosa was led by gold medalist Andres Suarez, who |

18 | 18 | | clinched the crown in the 165-pound weight class, and by silver |

19 | 19 | | medalists Landin Lamberth at 157 pounds and Noah Santiago at 144 |

20 | 20 | | pounds; additionally, Thomas Pacheco and Ethan Sims secured bronze |

21 | 21 | | medals in their respective 132-pound and 113-pound divisions; the |

22 | 22 | | Rebels were also represented at state by Kaden Ford, Anthony Smith, |

25 | 25 | | strong leadership of head coach Joe Stafford and his staff; now in |

26 | 26 | | his 15th year at Tascosa High, Coach Stafford was honored during the |

27 | 27 | | 2022-2023 season as the Region I-5A Coach of the Year; furthermore, |

28 | 28 | | Rebels assistant coach Nick Herrmann was named the regional |

29 | 29 | | Assistant Coach of the Year; and |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The Tascosa High Rebels demonstrated admirable |

31 | 31 | | skill and determination in winning the state championship, and |

32 | 32 | | memories of this exemplary accomplishment will resonate with their |

33 | 33 | | fellow students and their many supporters in the local community |
