| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The boys' wrestling team from Tascosa High School in |

| 6 | 6 | | Amarillo proved itself one of the best in Texas by winning the 5A |

| 7 | 7 | | championship at the 2023 University Interscholastic League |

| 8 | 8 | | Wrestling State Tournament; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On February 17 and 18, the Rebels joined the other |

| 10 | 10 | | top high school teams at the state meet in Cypress; turning in an |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | exceptional performance, the Tascosa wrestlers posted a total team |

| 12 | 12 | | score of 112 points, outdistancing runner-up Lucas Lovejoy High |

| 13 | 13 | | School by three points to claim the title; the victory was an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | important milestone in the history of the Rebel wrestling program, |

| 15 | 15 | | providing the boys' team with its inaugural UIL state championship; |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Tascosa was led by gold medalist Andres Suarez, who |

| 18 | 18 | | clinched the crown in the 165-pound weight class, and by silver |

| 19 | 19 | | medalists Landin Lamberth at 157 pounds and Noah Santiago at 144 |

| 20 | 20 | | pounds; additionally, Thomas Pacheco and Ethan Sims secured bronze |

| 21 | 21 | | medals in their respective 132-pound and 113-pound divisions; the |

| 22 | 22 | | Rebels were also represented at state by Kaden Ford, Anthony Smith, |

| 23 | 23 | | and Jaxon Johnson; and |

| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes benefit from the |

| 25 | 25 | | strong leadership of head coach Joe Stafford and his staff; now in |

| 26 | 26 | | his 15th year at Tascosa High, Coach Stafford was honored during the |

| 27 | 27 | | 2022-2023 season as the Region I-5A Coach of the Year; furthermore, |

| 28 | 28 | | Rebels assistant coach Nick Herrmann was named the regional |

| 29 | 29 | | Assistant Coach of the Year; and |

| 30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, The Tascosa High Rebels demonstrated admirable |

| 31 | 31 | | skill and determination in winning the state championship, and |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | memories of this exemplary accomplishment will resonate with their |

| 33 | 33 | | fellow students and their many supporters in the local community |
