| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Houston Park Neighborhood |

| 6 | 6 | | Association in El Paso are making a positive difference in the local |

| 7 | 7 | | community by representing the interests of their neighborhood; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The Houston Park Neighborhood Association empowers |

| 9 | 9 | | and engages area residents through advocacy and the coordination of |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | projects and activities; the group strives to build strong |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | relationships among neighbors, and it serves as a unified voice in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | city government; and |

| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, This year marks the 20th anniversary since the City |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of El Paso registered its first neighborhood association in 2003, |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and today, the city boasts numerous such organizations; as part of |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the El Paso community, the Houston Park Neighborhood Association |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | contributes to the vibrancy and growth of a forward-looking city |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that is committed to the safety and beautification of neighborhoods |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and to providing residents with outstanding recreational, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | cultural, and educational opportunities; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The vitality of a community depends in large measure |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | on the vision and dedication of concerned citizens, and through |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | their endeavors, the members of the Houston Park Neighborhood |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Association are helping to improve the quality of life in El Paso; |

| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |

| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 27 | 27 | | Legislature hereby commend the Houston Park Neighborhood |

| 29 | 29 | | its members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
