R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The first annual Stars, Stripes, and Sizzle BBQ
Cook-off is taking place in Pettus on June 30 and July 1, 2023; and
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the Champions Barbecue Alliance as one
of the organization's state championship cookoffs, this
much-anticipated event attracts talented chefs from across Texas
and beyond; these highly skilled pitmasters put their culinary
abilities to the test as they vie to produce the tastiest entries in
several different categories; and
WHEREAS, The event's grand champion will receive an
invitation to the American Royal World Series of Barbecue contest
as well as an opportunity to compete at the Jack Daniel's World
Championship Invitational Barbecue competition; and
WHEREAS, The Stars, Stripes, and Sizzle BBQ Cook-off raises
funds for the Pettus Tuleta Volunteer Fire Department, a nonprofit
organization serving area communities; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their love of barbecue, and the
Stars, Stripes, and Sizzle BBQ Cook-off is sure to offer everyone in
attendance the chance to enjoy good food and good times while
supporting a worthy cause; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commemorate the 2023 Stars, Stripes, and Sizzle
BBQ Cook-off and extend to the organizers, contestants, and
attendees sincere best wishes for a fun and successful event.
