| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Brockman Hall for Opera at Rice University has been |

| 6 | 6 | | honored with a 2023 Landmark Award in the Public Assembly category |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Each year, the Houston Business Journal recognizes |

| 9 | 9 | | real estate projects that have made an important impact in the |

| 10 | 10 | | community; part of the Shepherd School of Music, Brockman Hall for |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Opera opened its doors in April 2022; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The 84,000-square-foot facility encompasses the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Lucian and Nancy Morrison Theater, a three-tiered, European-style |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | performance space that features 600 seats and an orchestra pit for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | 70 musicians; in addition to serving as a venue for theatrical and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | musical performances, the building offers rehearsal and practice |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | spaces and attracts numerous high-profile speakers; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In its first year of operation, Brockman Hall for |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Opera has significantly contributed to the cultural vibrancy of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Rice University and the Houston area, and it will continue to play a |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | vital role in the community for decades to come; now, therefore, be |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Brockman Hall for Opera on being |

| 25 | 25 | | honored with a 2023 Landmark Award in the Public Assembly category |
