| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Gilberta P. Gonzalez of Corpus Christi, who passed away on |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | October 22, 2022, at the age of 95; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Demetrio and Amparo Padilla, the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | former Bertha Padilla was born on October 16, 1927, in Mercedes, and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | she grew up with the companionship of four siblings, Demetrio, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Francisco, Carmen, and Amparito; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Gonzalez moved to Corpus Christi in 1959; she |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | worked with her husband, Raul C. Gonzalez, for a number of years in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | their family business, and along the way, she continued her |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | education, proudly earning her GED in 1981; a woman of strong faith, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | she demonstrated an unwavering commitment to prayer; she had a |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | passion for singing that she discovered while attending church |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | services during her youth, and she was also known for her love of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | cooking; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Gonzalez took |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | great pride in her children, Frank, Raul Jr., Demetrio, Bertha, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Alicia, Abraham, Sylvia, Gloria, and Elias; as the years passed, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | she was blessed with 32 grandchildren, including Joshua and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Michael, whom she raised from childhood, as well as 63 |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Bertha Gonzalez brightened the world for all who |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | knew her, and they will forever hold her close in their hearts; now, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gilberta P. Gonzalez |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and extend heartfelt condolences to all those who mourn her |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | passing; and, be it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of |

| 36 | 36 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bertha |
