5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A life lived with joy and purpose drew to a close |

6 | 6 | | with the passing of Ronald Anthony Maceo of Galveston on |

7 | 7 | | November 13, 2022, at the age of 75; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A native of Galveston, Ronnie Maceo was born to |
---|
9 | 9 | | Rosario and Dorothy Maceo on September 20, 1947; he grew up with a |
---|
10 | 10 | | sister, Olivia, and two brothers, Thomas and Rosario, and he |
---|
11 | 11 | | received his education at Allen Military Academy; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Maceo enjoyed a rewarding career as the |
---|
13 | 13 | | proprietor of Maceo Spice and Import Company, which he and his |
---|
14 | 14 | | daughter, Concetta, grew into a thriving, iconic Galveston |
---|
15 | 15 | | business; a loyal islander, he dedicated himself to promoting local |
---|
16 | 16 | | companies and to helping restaurants develop signature flavors; he |
---|
17 | 17 | | was a founding member of the Coconut Grove Bunch and the Galveston |
---|
18 | 18 | | Restaurant Association; and |
---|
19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his daughter, Mr. Maceo took great |
---|
20 | 20 | | pride in his son, Frank, and his granddaughter, Precely; in his free |
---|
21 | 21 | | time, he loved cooking and hosting, and he also liked taking trips |
---|
22 | 22 | | to Costa Rica; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Those fortunate enough to have known Ronnie Maceo |
---|
24 | 24 | | will remember the way he touched their lives with his warmth and |
---|
25 | 25 | | generosity, and he will forever hold a treasured place in their |
---|
26 | 26 | | hearts; now, therefore, be it |
---|
27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Ronald Anthony Maceo |

29 | 29 | | and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his |

30 | 30 | | son, Frank Maceo; to his daughter, Concetta Maceo-Sims, and her |

31 | 31 | | husband, Destin; to his granddaughter, Precely Rose Sims; to his |
