| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. of Houston, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the age of 78; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Cliff Cobb was born in Harlingen to Jessie B. Martin |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and Sir Clifton Cobb Sr. on July 17, 1944; as a child, he moved with |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | his mother to Taylor, where he grew up with his grandmother and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | extended family; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, A 1962 graduate of Price High School, Mr. Cobb |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | continued his education at Texas Southern University, earning a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | degree in finance in 1966; after living in New York City for a time, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | he returned to Texas and enjoyed a successful career with Tenneco |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Oil Company that spanned 25 years; he also joined a human resources |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | independent contract company; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cobb drew strength from |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the rewarding marriage that he shared with his wife, Deanna |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Perdue-Cobb; he was the father of five children, Darryl, Corey, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Cristi, Robin, and the late Ronald B. Cobb, and his family |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | eventually grew to include 10 grandchildren and 4 |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | great-grandchildren; an aficionado of wine and cigars, Mr. Cobb |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | also enjoyed sports, fishing, and barbecuing; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Cliff Cobb |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | it further |

| 34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |

| 35 | 35 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |

| 36 | 36 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cliff Cobb. |
