44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Memories of a life filled with joyful times and
66 meaningful accomplishments remain to comfort the family and friends
77 of Clifton J. Cobb Jr. of Houston, who passed away on May 1, 2023, at
88 the age of 78; and
99 WHEREAS, Cliff Cobb was born in Harlingen to Jessie B. Martin
1010 and Sir Clifton Cobb Sr. on July 17, 1944; as a child, he moved with
1111 his mother to Taylor, where he grew up with his grandmother and
1212 extended family; and
1313 WHEREAS, A 1962 graduate of Price High School, Mr. Cobb
1414 continued his education at Texas Southern University, earning a
1515 degree in finance in 1966; after living in New York City for a time,
1616 he returned to Texas and enjoyed a successful career with Tenneco
1717 Oil Company that spanned 25 years; he also joined a human resources
1818 independent contract company; and
1919 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Cobb drew strength from
2020 the rewarding marriage that he shared with his wife, Deanna
2121 Perdue-Cobb; he was the father of five children, Darryl, Corey,
2222 Cristi, Robin, and the late Ronald B. Cobb, and his family
2323 eventually grew to include 10 grandchildren and 4
2424 great-grandchildren; an aficionado of wine and cigars, Mr. Cobb
2525 also enjoyed sports, fishing, and barbecuing; and
2626 WHEREAS, While his loss is difficult to bear, Cliff Cobb
2727 leaves behind numerous friends and loved ones whose lives are far
2828 richer for having known him, and he will always hold a treasured
2929 place in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
3131 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Clifton J. Cobb Jr.
3232 and extend sincere condolences to all who mourn his passing; and, be
3333 it further
3434 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3535 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3636 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Cliff Cobb.
