44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their
66 memories of James L. Johnston of Kingwood, who passed away on
77 April 30, 2023, at the age of 83; and
88 WHEREAS, Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on
99 August 26, 1939, Jim Johnston was the son of James and Dorothea
1010 Johnston; he grew up with the companionship of three siblings,
1111 Nancy, Kenny, and Patti Ann, and he went on to attend the University
1212 of Houston; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Johnston answered his country's call to duty
1414 during the Vietnam War and served as a captain in the United States
1515 Air Force; after returning to civilian life, he pursued a career in
1616 financial planning and insurance sales; outside of work, he enjoyed
1717 such activities as hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles; and
1818 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Johnston was blessed with
1919 the love and support of his wife, Lanelle Johnston, whom he married
2020 in 1962; he was the proud father of a son, James, and his cherished
2121 family further included a number of grandchildren; and
2222 WHEREAS, Although Jim Johnston is deeply missed, he has left
2323 his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever
2424 treasure; now, therefore, be it
2525 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2626 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James L. Johnston and
2727 extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be
2828 it further
2929 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3030 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
3131 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim
3232 Johnston.
