| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends will forever treasure their |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | memories of James L. Johnston of Kingwood, who passed away on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | April 30, 2023, at the age of 83; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | August 26, 1939, Jim Johnston was the son of James and Dorothea |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Johnston; he grew up with the companionship of three siblings, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Nancy, Kenny, and Patti Ann, and he went on to attend the University |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | of Houston; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Johnston answered his country's call to duty |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | during the Vietnam War and served as a captain in the United States |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Air Force; after returning to civilian life, he pursued a career in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | financial planning and insurance sales; outside of work, he enjoyed |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | such activities as hunting, camping, and riding motorcycles; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, Mr. Johnston was blessed with |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the love and support of his wife, Lanelle Johnston, whom he married |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in 1962; he was the proud father of a son, James, and his cherished |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | family further included a number of grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, Although Jim Johnston is deeply missed, he has left |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | his loved ones with a wealth of memories that they will forever |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | treasure; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of James L. Johnston and |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | extend sincere sympathy to all those who mourn his passing; and, be |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Jim |
