| 7 | 7 | | close an exceptional career that spanned 23 years; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of her tenure at Dallas College |

| 9 | 9 | | Brookhaven, Ms. Long distinguished herself as a developmental math |

| 10 | 10 | | instructor; passionate about her work in the classroom, she |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | inspired countless students in their lives and careers; in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | recognition of her skill and dedication, she was awarded a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | 2013-2014 Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation Excellence in Teaching |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Award from the Dallas County Community College District; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Long earned a bachelor of science degree from |

| 16 | 16 | | West Texas State University in 1986 and a master of science degree |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | from Texas Woman's University in 2000; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Kathleen Long has demonstrated the spirit and |

| 19 | 19 | | commitment that are the hallmarks of our best educators, and she may |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | indeed take pride in a career well spent as she embarks on the next |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | exciting chapter of her life; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature hereby congratulate Kathleen Long on her retirement as |

| 24 | 24 | | a mathematics professor at Dallas College Brookhaven Campus and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | extend to her sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |
