No. 2056 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Over the course of some 60 years, Pat Stone has played an indispensable role in keeping the children of Lewisville safe on their way to and from school; and WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Lewisville, Ms. Stone helped lead the effort to establish crossing guards for local schools after becoming concerned about students negotiating the traffic on area streets; she recruited assistance from a state trooper to learn the details of the job and soon began service as the first crossing guard in the city's history; and WHEREAS, Ms. Stone has continued her dedicated efforts through the years and has long served as a guard for Southridge Elementary School; today, six decades after beginning her duties, she is still safeguarding students; in recognition of her exceptional efforts, the City of Lewisville Facebook group declared that May 1 will be celebrated annually as Ms. Pat "the Crossing Guard" Appreciation Day; and WHEREAS, Through her deep commitment to the children of Lewisville, Pat Stone has earned the lasting respect and gratitude of area families and school personnel, and she may take justifiable pride in her important contributions; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas Legislature hereby honor Pat Stone for her many years of service as a crossing guard in Lewisville and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Stone as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
