| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of some 60 years, Pat Stone has |

| 6 | 6 | | played an indispensable role in keeping the children of Lewisville |

| 7 | 7 | | safe on their way to and from school; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Lewisville, Ms. Stone helped |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | lead the effort to establish crossing guards for local schools |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | after becoming concerned about students negotiating the traffic on |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | area streets; she recruited assistance from a state trooper to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | learn the details of the job and soon began service as the first |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | crossing guard in the city's history; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ms. Stone has continued her dedicated efforts |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | through the years and has long served as a guard for Southridge |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Elementary School; today, six decades after beginning her duties, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | she is still safeguarding students; in recognition of her |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | exceptional efforts, the City of Lewisville Facebook group declared |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | that May 1 will be celebrated annually as Ms. Pat "the Crossing |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Guard" Appreciation Day; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Through her deep commitment to the children of |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Lewisville, Pat Stone has earned the lasting respect and gratitude |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of area families and school personnel, and she may take justifiable |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | pride in her important contributions; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby honor Pat Stone for her many years of service as |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | a crossing guard in Lewisville and extend to her sincere best wishes |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
