| 7 | 7 | | the 2023 Texas High School Lacrosse League Class AA state |

|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, On their journey to the title, the Scots defeated |

| 10 | 10 | | Houston Memorial High School 13-6 in the regional round of the |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | playoffs and then recorded a thrilling 11-10 victory over The |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Episcopal School of Dallas in the semifinals to punch their ticket |

| 13 | 13 | | to the championship game; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, On May 14, top-seeded Highland Park battled The |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Woodlands for the state crown; demonstrating tremendous resolve, |

| 16 | 16 | | the Scots erased an 8-5 deficit with a flurry of second half scoring |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | to take a 10-9 lead; the players continued their offensive attack |

| 18 | 18 | | down the stretch, sealing the outcome with consecutive goals in the |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | waning minutes; triumphing by the final score of 14-10, the Scots |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | celebrated the program's 12th lacrosse state title, the most of any |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | team in Texas, and finished the year with an outstanding 20-4 |

| 22 | 22 | | record; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Over the course of the season, the Scots received |

| 24 | 24 | | valuable contributions from each member of the roster; these |

| 25 | 25 | | talented student-athletes benefited from the able direction of head |

| 26 | 26 | | coach Mike Pressler, who produced a state title in his inaugural |

|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, With their 2023 championship victory, the Highland |

| 29 | 29 | | Park Scots have burnished their reputation as a lacrosse |

| 30 | 30 | | powerhouse, and all those associated with the team may reflect with |

| 31 | 31 | | pride on a job well done; now, therefore, be it |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 33 | 33 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park High School boys' |

| 34 | 34 | | lacrosse team on winning the 2023 THSLL Class AA state championship |

| 35 | 35 | | and extend to the players, coaches, and staff sincere best wishes |
