| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, National PEO Week is taking place from May 21 |

| 6 | 6 | | through 27, 2023, providing a fitting opportunity to recognize |

| 7 | 7 | | professional employer organizations for their contributions to |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | businesses across the United States; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The national professional employer organization |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | (PEO) industry provides payroll and human resources services to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | hundreds of thousands of small and mid-sized businesses that, in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | total, employ more than 4 million people; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Professional employer organizations help companies |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | improve productivity and profitability, expand their reach, and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | achieve their goals; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, By partnering with a PEO, businesses are able to |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | offer their employees retirement plans, health, dental, and life |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | insurance, dependent care, and other important benefits; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Professional employer organizations play an |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | instrumental role in ensuring that businesses continue to thrive |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | during challenging times, including the COVID-19 pandemic, when |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | these organizations helped their clients secure financial |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | assistance, manage employee leave, and apply for available tax |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | credits; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, According to the National Association of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Professional Employer Organizations, businesses that partnered |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with a PEO during the pandemic were nearly 60 percent less likely to |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | permanently close; and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, Professional employer organizations are a vital |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | asset to the businesses they serve, and it is a pleasure to join in |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | honoring these groups for their outstanding work; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | be it |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature hereby recognize May 21 through 27, 2023, as National |
