H.R. No. 2116
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, María de la Paloma Villaseñor Vargas, the Mexican
consul in Del Rio, is visiting the Texas Capitol on May 22, 2023,
and this occasion provides a welcome opportunity to pay tribute to
this honored guest; and
WHEREAS, The consul in Del Rio since September 2020,
Dr. Villaseñor Vargas previously served as the Mexican consul in
Calgary, Canada, and she won three elections to the legislative
assembly in Mexico, once at the state level and twice at the federal
level; among her many accomplishments as a legislator is the
unanimous approval of the general law for the care and protection of
individuals with autism; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Villaseñor Vargas has represented Mexico at
numerous international summits, and she has raised awareness of
women's issues as president of the Mexican chapter of the
International Women's Forum and as a delegate to the Global Summit
of Women; and
WHEREAS, A native of Mexico City, Dr. Villaseñor Vargas
speaks fluent Spanish, English, French, and Italian; she holds a
bachelor's degree in communications from the Universidad
Intercontinental, a master's degree in applied public management
from Tecnológico de Monterrey, and a doctorate in innovation and
social responsibility from the Universidad Anáhuac México; she has
also completed numerous public and business management programs;
and
WHEREAS, María Villaseñor Vargas has distinguished herself
throughout her career in public service, and she is indeed
deserving of recognition for her contributions as the Mexican
consul in Del Rio; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
Legislature hereby commend María de la Paloma Villaseñor Vargas for
her service as the Mexican consul in Del Rio and extend to her
sincere best wishes for continued success with her important work;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Dr. Villaseñor Vargas as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
