44 R E S O L U T I O N
55 WHEREAS, The members of the archery team from Highland Park
66 Elementary School in Austin achieved great distinction by winning
77 the national championship at the 2023 NASP Western Nationals; and
88 WHEREAS, Competing in the National Archery in the Schools
99 Program meet on April 28 and 29 in Sandy, Utah, Highland Park's
1010 No. 1 fifth-grade team turned in an exceptional performance;
1111 compiling a final score of 3,169, the Scotties emerged triumphant
1212 in the 13-team field to clinch the first national archery title in
1313 the school's history; and
1414 WHEREAS, Highland Park's No. 2 fifth-grade team also
1515 excelled at nationals, securing a sixth-place finish with a final
1616 tally of 2,922; and
1717 WHEREAS, Archery has been an important part of student life
1818 at Highland Park Elementary since first being introduced to the
1919 curriculum in 2013, and the Scotties made their first appearance at
2020 nationals in 2017; and
2121 WHEREAS, Winning a national championship represents the
2222 culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering
2323 commitment to excellence, and these outstanding young Texans will
2424 treasure the memory of this accomplishment for the rest of their
2525 lives; now, therefore, be it
2626 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
2727 Legislature hereby congratulate the Highland Park Elementary
2828 School archery team on winning the national championship at the
2929 2023 NASP Western Nationals and extend to the students and coaches
3030 sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
3131 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
3232 prepared for the Scotties as an expression of high regard by the
3333 Texas House of Representatives.
