| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, For nearly two decades, members of the Dallas |

| 6 | 6 | | Everest Lions Club have made important contributions to their |

| 7 | 7 | | community; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Established in 2003, the Dallas Everest Lions Club |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | is the first predominantly Nepalese Lions Club chapter in the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | country, and over the years, the group has become a platform for |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | networking and cultural exchange with the wider community; today, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the club boasts 108 active members, several of whom have held |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | leadership roles at the district level of the organization; in |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | addition, DELC has helped to establish a number of other Lions Club |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | chapters in the Dallas area and beyond; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, The members of DELC take part in a variety of |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | activities benefiting their community, including holding regular |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | health fairs to screen for diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | environmental cleanup projects, food drives, cultural events, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | youth tutoring programs; moreover, the group provides free |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | eyeglasses to school children and needy adults as well as |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | scholarships and disaster assistance around the world; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Since its inception, the Dallas Everest Lions Club |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | has played a vital role in the community, and its members' |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | willingness to give of their time and talents sets an outstanding |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | example of civic engagement; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature hereby commend the Dallas Everest Lions Club for its |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | many years of service and extend to all those associated with the |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | group sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further |

| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
