| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Berry Miller Junior High School Honors Band has |

| 6 | 6 | | achieved great distinction by earning the 2022 Sudler Silver Cup |

| 7 | 7 | | Award from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; and |

| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, This international accolade is bestowed upon junior |

| 9 | 9 | | high school and middle school concert band programs that have |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | demonstrated particularly high standards of excellence in concert |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | activities over a period of several years; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The Berry Miller Junior High School Honors Band is |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the first program in the Pearland Independent School District to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | receive recognition from the John Philip Sousa Foundation; to |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | qualify, the band earned superior competition ratings, and a number |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | of students participated in district, all-area, or all-state honor |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | bands; this outstanding group benefits from the able guidance of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | director Chris Bennett and the support of Pearland ISD director of |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fine arts, Tom Bell; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Through the tremendous skill and dedication of its |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | members, the Berry Miller Junior High School Honors Band has proven |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | itself worthy of this prestigious award, and it is truly a privilege |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | to commend the program for its outstanding record of achievement; |

| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas |

| 26 | 26 | | Legislature hereby congratulate the Berry Miller Junior High School |
